As far as desires go,there is really not such a great gulf between the one who creates and the one who appreciates.Except,with the former his application may lead him to too far into technical adventures,and thus create a momentary breach between himself and the spectator who,too impresed by tours de force,may lose sight of the original subject matter.And yet such tours de force when carried out without any special effort on the part of the artist,are merely means for making his subject matter more telling.
