Yva was one of Germany’s most successful fashion and commercial photographers. She founded her studio in Berlin in 1925 and in 1926 collaborated with Heinz Hajek-Halke. Her work was published in the fashionable magazines of the day such as Die Dame, Uhu, Elegante Welt and Berliner Illustrierte and her work was also included in the Film und Foto exhibit in Stuttgart in 1929. This image of legs is one of Yva’s most famous and was probably used for a stocking ad. It also served as a test print in a sample book for Mimosa photo paper.
[one more thing, she was the first one that hired young Helmut Newton back in 1936;]
